The Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH) is a global platform where medical students come together to address public health issues. Established in 1952 at the initiative of IFMSA, the committee enabled medical students to play an active role in tackling health problems and shaping health policies. At that time, the committee was called the Standing Committee on Student Health (SCOSH). Over time, the committee’s scope of work expanded, and in 1963, its name was changed to the Standing Committee on Health (SCOH). Since 1983, it has been known as the Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH).
