In the world, approximately 340 million people are victims of work-related accidents and 160 million suffer from occupational diseases every year.
According to the latest statistical data on workplace accidents and occupational diseases globally, some of the key points are as follows:
1. Work-related illnesses are the leading cause of death among workers. It is estimated that 651,279 deaths occur annually due to exposure to hazardous substances alone.
2. The construction industry exhibits a disproportionately high rate of recorded accidents.
3. Both young and elderly workers are particularly vulnerable to workplace conditions. The aging population in developed countries means that more elderly individuals are entering the workforce, necessitating special attention to their needs.
Understanding and prioritizing occupational safety is crucial for protecting the health of workers and minimizing possible harm in the manufacturing sector.
International Occupational Health and Safety
Occupational health and safety is a highly relevant topic today. In this regard, our training session titled "International Occupational Health and Safety" took place. Coordinator of "Occupational Safety" at SOCAR, Senan Huseynov, provided detailed information on ensuring the safety of workers and organizing labor in manufacturing conditions, intricacies of this field, as well as insights into HSE management systems and their principles. During the training, Elmar informed the students about the "NEBOSH" examination and provided extensive information about its benefits and importance. This informative event helped students gain a better understanding of career prospects and opportunities in the field.
