Measles Awareness Project
Since April 2023, sporadic cases of measles have begun to emerge across Azerbaijan. While only one case of measles was reported in 2022, the number of cases surged to 1,493 between January and November 2023. To investigate the reasons behind this significant increase and raise public awareness, the Public Health Committee created an informational video.
First, a survey was prepared to assess the awareness level of parents regarding measles. The survey was shared with parents through social media platforms. Based on the survey results, statistics were compiled under the title "Parents' Awareness Level About Measles" and shared on social media. The survey also included a dedicated section for parents to submit their questions. In response to these concerns, Hökümə Məmmədova, a PhD student at Azerbaijan Medical University and an infectious disease specialist at the "Səhhət" Clinic, provided detailed information about measles and answered parents' questions in the prepared video. This video was shared with the public on the AzerMDS YouTube channel, as well as on Instagram and Facebook.
The aim of this project was to provide accurate information about measles, highlight the importance of prevention and vaccination, and effectively communicate these messages to parents. As a result, people will be better equipped to take necessary precautions to protect themselves from this disease and make informed decisions to safeguard their health.
