4 February - World Cancer Awareness Day

On the occasion of World Cancer Day on February 4, the SCOPH Committee of the AzerMDS organization carried out various activities to raise public awareness about cancer. These efforts aimed to enhance public understanding of the disease while emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis and treatment.

As part of these initiatives, an interview was conducted with a cancer survivor. The questions, prepared by active members, explored the experiences of a young boy and his mother who had endured the challenges of cancer for many years. The interview was recorded as a video and shared on the AzerMDS YouTube channel, allowing the information to reach a broader audience.

On February 2, 3, and 4, a special booth was set up at Gənclik Mall to provide detailed information about cancer to the public. Visitors could easily find answers to questions such as what cancer is, its symptoms, and which specialists to consult. Active members at the booth engaged with passersby, providing in-depth information and addressing their questions.

Through these activities, the public received accurate information about cancer, drawing attention to its prevention and treatment. As a result, individuals became better equipped to take necessary steps to protect themselves from the disease and make informed health decisions. Out of 180 brochures prepared, 150 were distributed to the public.

This was our committee's first project involving direct interaction with the public, and it was a resounding success. We hope to continue organizing similar initiatives in the future. Early diagnosis saves lives—let's visit a doctor on time!

Sincerely,
Aytac Yusifli
